  1. Kurt Lockhart Period 2A 12/16/08 Robot Definition- I think that a robot is programmed to do a specific task and do it to the utmost efficiency. I also think that for it to be a robot it must be able to either roll or walk on its own.

  2. 5 Tasks of Robots • Automotive assembly • Landings in foreign places • Unmanned Planes • Police Robots • Package Goods

  3. Specific Task #1 One task that robots do is putting together cars. This helps for the cars to be the same every time. It also allows for the humans to not hurt themselves in the assembly.

  4. Specific Task #2 Another specific task that robots do is unknown landings. We build robots that can fly millions of miles away and land on a planet that we have no clue about. They can take tests and determine whether we can live there or not. We sent one to mars to take tests for us.

  5. Specific Task #3 The third specific task that we have created a robot for is the military. We have created unmanned planes to go in and either take pictures or drop bombes on a certain place. These planes are designed to get in and get out. It is much safer for them to be unmanned because these are very hostile places they are flying in to.

  6. Automotive assembly Robots This is one of many robots that participates in the assembly of automobiles. This robot finishes the paint job on all the cars. It is a key part in the assembly because it does it ten times more efficiently than humans. Some of these robots can cost up to or more than 100,000 dollars. This is basically just a mechanical arm that is programmed to use a sweeping motion to paint the vehicle from top down.

  7. Mars Rover The scientists that built this robot didn’t expect as much from it as it gave them. They wanted the rover to be able to walk 40 meters a day. In all 1 kilometer. The robot actually did much more than that and cooperated spectacularly. The mars rover itself was about 200 million dollars. The whole mission to send it to mars cost about 600 million. This is one of the most advanced robots that they have been able to build today. It can operate from light years of miles away. One of the biggest accomplishments ever.
