  2. What will we learn today? • Standard • ET-ECE-8: Explore the growth, development, and care of the preschool child. • EQ • How do you teach a child to properly wash their hands?

  3. Tips for Washing Your Hands: • Use warm water • Use Soap • Make sure to scrub under fingernails • Dry hands with a new/clean towel • Wash hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds • OR as long as it takes to sing happy birthday TWICE

Step-By-Step Instructions: • Turn on warm water • Rinse hands in warm water • Squirt soap in hand • Rub hands together (top, bottom, in-between fingers, under finger nails) for 20 seconds • What can I do for 20 seconds? • Rinse soapy hands under warm water (continue to rub together) • Dry hands with a new/clean towel • Turn off water

  6. Daily Grade Break • You will work in groups of 3 to create a short how-to video teaching a child how to properly wash their hands. • Video Recorder • Teacher • Child • You will all research the importance of hand washing and different techniques/helpful hints for washing hands.

  7. Making Your Video • You will use your cell phone, iPod, or other video recording device and then email the video to: kerisverdell@gmail.com OR upload it to Youtubeand email me the link • Things that MUST be included in your video: • A helpful/unique way to properly wash hands • NOT “Happy Birthday” twice! • At least 3 benefits to washing your hands • Easy step-by-step instructions for washing hands

  8. Before you can make your video: I need to see your script! • Who did what? • Write your names and what part you played • 3 benefits/reasons for hand washing • Use internet to research this • Step-By-Step Instructions • INCLUDING: what you can do for 20 seconds
