  1. 5 Reasons To Avoid Sugar Sugar might taste sweet but its truth is bitter. No matter how good sugar feels on your tongue, it’s not at all good for health at all. Sugar is said to be the root cause of various diseases like obesity, heart diseases, and of course diabetes. Here are five reasons why too much sugar is harmful for your health. 1. Eating excessive sugar leads to weight gain Well, if you did not know, sugar is a carbohydrate, which eventually settles on to the areas you call your ‘problem’ areas. Where you put on weight. Eating excessive amounts of sugar affects insulin resistance and blood sugar levels in the blood. This spikes the hunger and causes you to crave more sugary/carbohydrate foods. Also, excessive fructose consumption could cause resistance to leptin. Leptin is the hormone responsible for regulating your hunger and most importantly, telling you to stop eating.

  2. 2.Sugar is the root cause of diabetes Excessive intake of sugar over a prolonged time causes resistance to insulin, a hormone produced that regulates blood sugar levels. This insulin resistance causes blood sugar levels to spike and increases your risk of getting diabetes. 3. It also causes acne We all know that consuming excessive amounts of sugar spikes blood sugar and insulin levels. Well, this increased insulin causes increased androgen secretion, oil production and inflammation, all of which play a role in acne development. In a study, conducted on over 2,300 teens, it was found that the teens who frequently consumed added sugar had a 30% greater risk of developing acne. 4. Worsens depression While sugar might be the first thing you crave when you feel sad but do not pick up that candy bar. And for this, blood sugar swings, neurotransmitter dysregulation, and inflammation are to be blamed. According to a study published in the journal Scientific Reports, it was found that men who consumed 67 grams or more of sugar per day were 23% more likely to develop depression than men who ate less than 40 grams per day. 5. It could increase the risk of heart diseases Time and again, it has been proven that excessive consumption of sugar high-sugar leads to obesity, inflammation, and high triglyceride, blood sugar and blood pressure. And all of these problems could up your risk of getting a heart disease. A study conducted on over 30,000 people discovered that those who consumed 17-21% of calories from sugar had a 38% greater risk of dying from heart disease, compared to those consumed sugar in very controlled quantities. We’re not asking you to cut sugar completely but consume it in limited quantities. And replace refined sugar with natural sweetene4rs like honey, jaggery, and maple syrup whenever you can.
