  1. The Extra Safe Gun Safe Keeping firearms safe is a must for every gun owner. Not only does this prevent terrible accidents but also prevent unauthorized people from taking away and using your gun. While owners may be aware of gun safety, surrounding people such as family members may be not. Children especially, may mistake these guns as toys when left lying around the house or tucked in a closet somewhere. Thus, keeping your guns in a safe and secure place is very crucial. There are a couple of ways to secure guns. One is to use a gun safe while the other is to just use trigger locks. The trigger lock is fitted to the trigger of a gun to prevent discharge of a firearm. It is normally designed such that it cannot be forcibly removed from the gun without disabling it for good. But according to experts, while these locks are relatively safe, they do not prevent physical access to the firearm as compared to gun safes. Gun safes are very important for gun safety. They ensure that your firearm is not a threat to anyone. It keeps your gun out of sight from family members and out of the hands of criminals who may break into your house. Keeping guns in a safe is the safest way to protect not just your gun, but your family as well.

  2. Safe gun storage laws are in effect in most all States to prevent accidents in homes especially where children are involved. The ATF (Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) has a mandate in place for gun selling facilities which states that firearms are to be secured in safesor have trigger locks installed to prevent firing. The selling establishment has to sign a certification form that they comply by this law. This law is required by all states. Just to mention a few of the state's safe gun laws, in Texas, as well as other states, a firearm sales facility has to place a sign somewhere visible to all customers buying rifles, shotguns and pistols in their store that says " It is unlawful to store, transport, abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm" (information taken from The Firearm Laws of Texas) or a similar statement. 3. Being a Safe Gun Owner With Kids Firearms and kids are definitely not the safest of combinations. This is certainly a good reason we purchase gun safes. The truth is, several states require firearms to be kept in secured containers whenever kids (under 18) can be found in the home. Furthermore, gun safety around kids is about a great deal more than always keeping it locked away. Education will go a long ways in safeguarding your child in the long run. The natural curiosity of a child is frequently spurred by forbidden boxes so it may possibly be worthwhile to take a seat and make clear a few of the basic ideas behind firearms to your child once you feel that they're mature enough to treat this issue with the importance it deserves. Finally, it is important to lead by example and practice proper gun ownership. In case you instruct a single thing and do another you may be sending mixed signals that may challenge the basic safety basics of gun ownership. If you ever use your firearm around your child make sure to diligently exercise the proper safety precautions and present responsible gun ownership. Plus, once again, never forget that whenever it comes to kids and firearms, you can never be careful enough.

  4. Having safe gun storage at home eliminates loosely stored firearms in your closets creates a secured environment for your guns and children. Your child's safety comes first but also you have a lot of money invested in your firearms so why make them an easy target for burglary. In the 1800's most firearm owners (most likely) did not own more than three firearms for hunting and self protection. They likely included one shotgun for bird hunting, a large caliber rifle for hunting deer, bear, etc. for food and one pistol for self protection. Their gun racks consisted of a variety of objects to hang their rifle and shotgun. These objects could be large nails wrapped in leather to keep from marring the gun's finish to maybe two forked pieces of a tree limb nailed over the front door for quick access in case there was trouble or a tasty animal target outside. There was little need for safe gun storage. The rifles most always were stored loaded and ready for use at all times. Homeowners also kept their pistols loaded and close by their beds or in holsters nearby for protection. The Need For Safe Gun Storage At Home

  5. Shotguns and rifles must be secured at all times, and since February 2011 it has been a crime to fail to take 'reasonable precautions' to prevent someone under 18 from gaining access to an air rifle. Whilst this does not mean it has to be in a cabinet, in practical terms a cabinet is the best option to demonstrate you are acting responsibly. Outwardly many gun cabinets are very similar, but in practice there are substantial but subtle differences in design which go into the construction of the better cabinets which meet the British standard BS 7558/92. Whilst there are good cabinets that haven't been tested for the standard, for peace of mind it is worth getting one that has. Small differences to look for include features such as anti-jemmy flush fitting doors, a minimum of 2mm hardened steel construction and full length joint welding. The locks are a vital part of the cabinet and it is worth getting quality locks as there is nothing more frustrating than getting your guns stuck in the cabinet when the lock fails and you want to be out shooting. There are 2 types of locking mechanism commonly found on cabinets: What Makes A Safe Gun Cabinet For Your Shooting Accessories
