  2. Sunanda Pushkar and Shashi Tharoor have been making headlines since past few days. She was usually seen in bollywood parties and events. But news around 8:30 pm on Friday evening stunned everyone in the country. Sunanda Pushkar, wife of the Union Minister, has been found dead in Leela Palace Hotel in New Delhi. Delhi Police sources appealed that it could be a case of suicide. However, no suicide note has been found yet. Investigating officials began query on Friday night and autopsy report is expected to come by Saturday evening.

  3. Here are the sequences of events before and after Sunanda Pushkar's death:

  4. On 15 January 2014: A series of intimate messages, supposedly sent by the Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar to Tharoor, were posted on Tharoor's Twitter account. The messages declared Tarar's love for Tharoor. Tharoor tried to downplay the incident by stating that his account had been hacked. However, Sunanda later stated that the account had not been hacked and that she had posted the messages to expose what she believed to be Mehr's stalking of her husband. She accused Mehr of being an ISI agent. Later, she stated that she did not want to go public about the matter, particularly in an election year.

  5. The next day, a note titled as "Joint statement by Sunanda and Shashi Tharoor" was published on Shashi Tharoor's Facebook page. The note stated that the couple was happily married, and that some personal comments not intended for publication had been misrepresented after being posted to Twitter. The note also stated that Sunanda had been hospitalized after being ill, and was seeking rest.

  6. Jan 16: Mr and Mrs Tharoor checked into the Hotel Leela Palace in Delhi as the government house owed to them was being painted. Some reports claim the couple had checked into two separate suites - 342 and 345.

  7. Jan 17: Mr Tharoor left hotel around 8:00 am to attend the crucial AICC meeting organized by his party Congress. Mrs Tharoor was last seen on the lobby of the hotel around 3:30 pm. Sunanda Tharoor had reportedly contacted the hotel staff at about 3.30 pm on Friday to order lunch. That evening she told NDTV's Group Editor BarkhaDutt on the phone that she was at the Leela and that she planned to seek a divorce and was "heart-broken", details not reported by NDTV because it was seen as a private matter.

  8. Later Mr Tharoor returned to the hotel at 8:00 pm. Mr Tharoor tweeted from his Twitter account that he would not attend Jaipur Literary Fest as his wife not well. Later Sunanda was found dead in room number 345 of The Leela Palace hotel in the Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi. Shashi Tharoor discovered her body, when she did not wake up from her sleep in the evening. He informed the Police, who recovered the dead body from the hotel and sent it for postmortem.

  9. According to initial reports, Sunanda was suspected to have committed suicide. The later reports stated that the cause of death was unnatural; the doctors at AIIMS gave a preliminary autopsy report that exposed injury marks on her body. The doctors said that these injuries may or may not be the cause of death. The autopsy indicated that she died of drug overdose, most likely a combination of sedatives, other strong medicines and probably alcohol. A Probe has been ordered by SDM to examine the cause of poisoning and to ascertain if it was murder or suicide. Her body was cremated at Lodhi crematorium in South Delhi.

  10. Doctors at KIMS Hospital Trivandrum, who had diagnosed her few days earlier say that she did not have serious health problems. However, Sunanda had hinted about her death, hours before her body were recovered from the hotel.

Criticizing various speculation surrounding his mother Sunanda Pushkar's death, her son Shiv Menon today said she was "too strong" to commit suicide and died due to an unfortunate combination of media stress, tensions and a wrong mix of different medication. 21-year-old Menon, Sunanda's son from a earlier marriage, said both Shashi Tharoor and his mother were "very much in love" despite their "occasional differences" and that he did not believe that the Union Minister was capable of hurting her physically.

  14. In the latest details emerging out of Sunanda's forensic report, a deep bite mark was found on her hand. Her upper edge was dotted with over a dozen of injury marks on hand, an arm, chin, and neck and these were termed as 'scuffle marks', sources said.
