Questions Study the diagrams in Figure 1 carefully. • Which object is certainly a magnet? • Which object can either be a magnet or is made of a magnetic substance? • Which object is made of a non-magnetic substance? • Name one example that can represents Object X. • Name one example that can represents Object Y.

  4. Possible Solutions / Answers Q. (a) • Object Y Explanation: The fact about a magnet is that it can repel another magnet. It also can attract another magnet. It is mainly because a magnet has poles (North pole and South Pole). Why can’t Object X be the possible answer? Please refer to Explanation (c).

  5. Possible Solutions / Answers Q. (b) • Object X. Explanation: The fact about a magnetic substance is that it can only attract to a magnet, but it cannot repel another magnet. This is because magnetic substance do not have any pole.

  6. Possible Solutions / AnswersQ. (c) • Object Z Explanation: The fact about non-magnetic substance is that it has no reaction at all when brought near to a magnet. It is because only magnetic substance is attracted to a magnet.
