  2. Terminating Project • Termination comes to every project • At this stage the joy of discovery is past • The process of termination is never easy • Always compacted

  3. The varieties of Project Termination • Termination by Extinction • Termination by Addition • Termination by Integration • Termination by Starvation

  4. Termination by Extinction • The project is stopped • It may end because it has been successful and achieved its goals • The new product has been developed and handed over to the client or the software has been installed and is running • The project may also stopped because it is unsuccessful or has been superseded • The new drug failed its efficacy tests; there are better alternative available.

  5. Termination by Addition • Most project in house that is carried out by the project team for use in the parent organization. • Start with a small department and become a full-fledged department • Example; Educational Institute

  6. Termination by Integration • Most common way of dealing with successful project • The property distributed among the existing organization • Look on your book pp 628

  7. Termination by Starvation • Management is not interested to explain the reason behind termination of a project • Budget cuts
