  2. Historical Facts 1 • 300 B.C.- Romans used volcanic ash called Pozzuolana found near Pozzouli by the bay of Naples. They used this to make a cementitious material to make bridges.

  3. Historical Facts 2 • 193 B.C.- Many bridges were made of bound stones which people used to form concrete.

  4. Historical Facts 3 • 1900- 145th Street Bridge in New York County, New York was built in 1900 and rehabilitated in 1988. This swing bridge stretches over the Harlem River on 145th Street in New York.

  5. Historical Facts 4 • 1925- In Miami-Dade County, Florida the Atlantic Avenue Bridge was built. This concrete arch bridge stretches over the ocean canal on Atlantic Avenue in Sunny Isles.

  6. Historical Bridges 5 • 1928-Clem Lowell Road Bridge in Carroll County, Georgia. This pony truss bridge stretches over Whooping Creek.
