Today’s Goals Initial Planning Conference • Understand the Tabletop Exercise (TTX) process • Discuss TTX structure and participation • Initiate planning now • Propose and discuss design objectives • Identify appropriate agencies and personnel for participation • Create a scenario • Highlight requirements and roles of all parties • Finalize receipt of relevant local SOPs and EOPs • Discuss site and participant requirements

  4. Today’s Goals • Lock in exercise planning & execution schedule • Identify Tabletop location / room layout as well as for future planning meetings • Request of relevant EOPs and SOPs • Confirm Mid and Final Planning Conference xxxx, 2006 / Time / Location

Facilitated Tabletop Exercise • One-day / 5-6 hour exercise • Local, State, and Federal response groups • Across the functional spectrum:(Medical Facilities, Public Health, Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, HazMat, Emergency Mgmt.) • Usually two to four distinctmodules or phases/example • Warning • Response • Recovery • Restoration

Assess the county’s ability to conduct effective Damage Assessment Initiate and practice a unified command for protocols including County OEM, Public Health, Local Law, Fire Assess the effectiveness the Debris Management policy Utilize the functional PIO’s with in a Joint Information Center Assess the Hospitals ability to coordinate and communicate with partner agencies. Initiate Mutual Aid for long term response and recovery Sample Objectives

What – Where – When Identify the Hazard Identify the Site Time Example: Preliminary assessments of damage resulting from Hurricane Terry are in progress throughout Long Island Nassau Co. as the storm passes and begins to weaken. Apparent casualties include persons trapped in congested traffic areas, and many are estimated to be lost from structure collapses as the storm made landfall. Destructive forces of the sustained high winds severely damaged the Nassau Co. areas. Many are reported as missing or were identified as individuals that were carried away by storm surge. Reports from area hospitals indicate many who were unable to evacuate and sheltered in-place were injured by flying debris or glass shards from broken windows. Scenario
