  2. What is the OSSLT ? • The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is comprised of two test booklets which include various Reading and Writing tasks

  3. Reading Tasks There are THREE different types of Reading Tasks. 1. Read an InformationalText of 200-220 words • Read a paragraph • Read a news report 2. Read a Narrative • Read a dialogue of about 225 words • Read a real-life narrative of about 600 words 3. Graphic Text Read a graphic text of about100-150 words

  4. Reading Task Questions Types of Questions: • multiple choice • open response (six lines each)

  5. Writing Tasks There are different types of writing tasks: A. Long Writing Tasks 1. News Report (one page) 2. Paragraphs expressing an opinion (two pages) B. Two Short Writing Tasks (six lines each)

  6. What to do? • Stay focused and respond to the question • Answer every question • Fill in all the lines • Write clearly and legibly • Use proper grammar, and punctuation • Be confident!
