  2. In 2006, Dillion Kim left his successful career as an HVAC technician to enroll in the Computer Science program at Santa Clara University. Like hundreds of other adult learners, he had to adjust to the life of homework, studying, and exams. Going back to school as an adult can be difficult, here are some tips to help make the transition easier.

  3. Understand what you hope to accomplish by going back to school and set clear specific goals. Once you’ve figured out your goals, you can let go of some of your lesser priorities. • If you have kids, you’ll need to make sure they are prepared to help more around the house more. Doing this before you start classes will make the transition easier for everyone.

  4. 3. Get organized and prepare in advance. Get your family into a regular after-school routine and use a calendar to keep track of your busy schedule. 4. Update your technical skills. Many classrooms today rely on technology to hand in assignments, work online with groups, and communicate with the instructors. Consider free training seminars that might be offered by your school.
