  1. My name is Miss Ferrier. I have been teaching in the Ocean City Primary School for many years. I am very pleased to be teaching second grade this school year. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child. It is my goal to have your child work to his/her potential while enjoying the educational process. Welcome to Second Grade!

  2. 8:30-8:50 Morning Routine 8:50-10: 30 Guided Reading 10:30-11:15 Specials 11:15-12:10 Shared Reading 12:10-12:55 Lunch 12:55-2:10 2nd Grade Mathematics 2:10-2:55 Science or Social Studies 2:55-3:00 Dismissal Schedule

  3. Your child will get a Birthday Certificate. A homework pass will be given to your child. The class will sing to them. Your child may bring in a special treat. Your Child’s Birthday

  5. Our classroom is located at 510 Adaptability Alley. “I Can” certificates Verbal praise Rewards for homework completion Use of character traits daily in class Character Education

If a speaker is needed on a specific topic, a request will be sent home to have volunteers speak to the class. 3 times a year Math Games for the parent and child will be played before school starts. 2-3 times a year parents will be invited to come to the classroom to view Literacy Binders, Portfolios or Presentations. Daily classroom volunteers are welcome. Volunteers

  7. The Literacy Binder is a collection of your child’s work that shows progress over time. It is available for you to view at any time. Portfolio

  8. Homework should be done as soon as your child gets home. Establish a quiet work space. Homework should take no longer than 30 minutes. (If you find it is taking longer, please let me know.) Homework

  9. 4 (90-100%)= Proficient: can do independently 3 (80-89%)= Consistent Development: may need minimal help 2 (70-79%)= Developing with Assistance: needs help to complete the task 1 (Below 70%)= Not Yet Evident: not yet able to do the task Grading

  10. We will be reading Journeys, vocabulary readers, challenge readers and novels. Our independent reading will be based on your child’s specific reading level and a specific genre. Reading 3rd Grade

  11. At the completion of each math unit, an individual math profile on your child will be completed. Results will be sent home. The results will tell where your child is expected to be academically in math. Tests will be available in the portfolio. Individual Profile for Math
