  1. CHRIST IS OUR CORNERSTONE 1) Christ is our cornerstone, on Him alone we build:

  2. With His true saints alone the courts of heav’n are filled. On His great love our hopes we place of present grace and joys above.

  3. 2) Here may we gain from heav’n the grace which we implore, and may that grace, once giv’n,

  4. be with us evermore until that day when all the blest to endless rest are called away.

  5. 3) Oh, then, with hymns of praise these hallowed courts shall ring;

  6. our voices we will raise the Three in One to sing and thus proclaim in joyful song, both loud and long, that glorious name.

  7. INTROIT P:Blessed are You, O Lord; C:teach me Your statutes!

  8. P:How can a young man keep his way pure? • C:By guarding it according to Your word.

  9. P:With my whole heart I seek You; • C:let me not wander from Your commandments!

  10. P:I have stored up Your word in my heart, • C:that I might not sin against You.

  11. P:Blessed are You, O Lord; • C:teach me Your statutes! • P:With my lips I declare • C:all the just decrees of Your mouth.

  12. P:In the way of Your testimonies I delight • C:as much as in all riches. • P:I will meditate on Your precepts • C:and fix my eyes on Your ways.

  13. P:I will delight in Your statutes; • C:I will not forget Your word. • Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

  14. P:Blessed are You, O Lord; • C:teach me Your statutes!

  15. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION P:In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. C:Amen.

  16. P:Our help is in the name of the Lord, • C:who made heaven and earth. • P:If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?

  17. C:But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. • P:Since we are gathered to hear God’s Word, call upon Him in prayer and praise,

  18. and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar,

  19. let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed,

  20. and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful condition. Together as His people let us take refuge in the infinite mercy of God,

  21. our heavenly Father, seeking His grace for the sake of Christ, and saying: God, be merciful to me, a sinner.

  22. KNEEL/SIT

  23. C:Almighty God, have mercy upon us, forgive us our sins, and lead us to everlasting life. Amen.

  24. P:Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ,

  25. and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. • C:Amen.

  26. KYRIE C:Lord, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Lord, have mercy.

  27. GLORIA IN EXCELSIS 1) To God on high be glory and peace to all the earth; Goodwill from God in heaven proclaimed at Jesus’ birth!

  28. We praise and bless You, Father; Your holy name, we sing—our thanks for Your great glory, Lord God, our heav’nly King.

  29. 2) To You, O sole-begotten, the Father’s Son, we pray; O Lamb of God, our Savior, You take our sins away.

  30. Have mercy on us, Jesus; receive our heartfelt cry, where You in pow’r are seated at God’s right hand on high—

  31. 3) For You alone are holy; You only are the Lord, forever and forever, be worshiped and adored;

  32. You with the Holy Spirit alone are Lord Most High, in God the Father’s glory. “amen!” our glad reply.

  33. PRAYER OF THE DAY O Lord, keep Your family the Church continually in the true faith that, relying on the hope of Your heavenly grace,

  34. we may ever be defended by Your mighty power; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord,

  35. who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. • Amen.

  36. Isaiah 58:3-9a

  37. ‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’

  38. Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers?

  39. Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist.

  40. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high.

  41. Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself?

  42. Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?

  43. Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord? “Is not this the fast that I choose:

  44. to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

  45. Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him,

  46. and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily;

  47. your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;

  48. you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness.

  49. P: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.
