TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES • New policy for employees hired though contractual agreements applies to all temporary staff at all levels except for: • Traveler Nurses • Registry Personnel coordinated by the Department of Nursing • Registered Nurses • Licensed Vocational Nurses • Certified Nursing Assistants • Materials management needs to be notified every time a new temporary agency contract is established to ensure a fair bidding process according to the University of California Policies and Procedures. • Agency needs to comply with Policy. • All personnel hired through contractual arrangements must follow all human resources policies and procedures.

  3. TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES • Agency Packet • Please give a copy of this packet to every agency you deal with. • Review the packet with agency • Department Packet • Maintain in the department • Use Temporary Employee Tracking System • Maintain a file for each individual

  4. TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES • Temporary employees should be observed and coached as necessary by the supervisor or a designee and should have at least one evaluation annually. • Temporary personnel are covered by the agency for workers’ compensation policies and should be referred to the emergency room for injuries.

  5. TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES • All agencies that UCLA Medical Center will contract with should verify that all appropriate personnel documentation is completed prior to referring an employee to a temporary position at UCLA Medical Center. • Should the employee be assigned prior to completing these forms, the temporary employee can do so during their first day of employment at UCLA Medical Center.
