Although elasticity and scalability are two different principles, some IT professionals and other stakeholders tend to think of them as similar, or even, in some cases, as roughly the same thing. This is generally a mistake, as the principles of elasticity and scalability play two different roles in the evolution of IT systems..

Self-service provisioning and automatic de-provisioning Self-provisioning, commonly known as the cloud self-service, is a feature among many cloud service providers which allows their end users to provision resources by themselves, and set up or launch a service or application without the intervention of dedicated IT personnel or the service providers themselves.

  5. Standardized interfaces. In telecommunications, an interface standard is a standard that describes one or more functional characteristics (such as code conversion, line assignments, or protocol compliance) or physical characteristics (such as electrical, mechanical, or optical characteristics) necessary to allow the exchange of information

  6. Billing self-service based usage model. Enterprise companies are finding new ways to monetize their products and increase revenue through additions to their product catalogs that reflect new billing/pricing models. Traditionally, there are three types of monetization models: one-time, subscription, and consumption/usage.
