Vocabulary Semester: 18 week classes Some classes are a semester/others are 2 semesters or 1 year Credit: Points earned by passing classes Semester class= .5 credit Year long= 1 credit To graduate= 22 credits G.P.A. Grade Point Average: Points awarded for letter grades earned A = 4 C = 2 F = 0 B = 3 D= 1

Cumulative GPA: Grade Point Average earned over each ensuing semester Requirement: Classes you must take in order to graduate Elective: Classes you choose to take College Entrance Requirements: Classes you must pass in order to be accepted into college/university Eligibility: Grade of C or better in order to play sports or participate in activities Academies: a school or area that provides instruction in a particular area.

  8. How do I determine my grade point average (GPA)? Your grade point average begins with the grades you earn at the end of your first semester. Your cumulative grade point average will include all of the grades earned at the end of each semester and for each year you have been in high school. Grade points are awarded as follows: Regular Honors AP Classes A = 4 points A = 4.5 A = 5 B = 3 points B = 3.5 B = 4 C= 2 points C = 2.5 C = 3 D = 1 point D = 1.5 D = 2 F = 0 F = 0 F = 0

  12. Get Involved! • Studies show that students who are involved in school activities do better academically. • Becoming involved in school activities is a great way to feel more a part of the school and make lifelong friends!
