  1. What is Netgear Extender? An Extender works to increase the range of an existing Wi-Fi network into areas where it could not reach before. A device such as the Netgear Smart Wi-Fi is a router with a long range — but it is not necessarily an Range Extender. Netgear Extender turns Dead Zone into fun zone by extending the signal strength and subsequently extends router’s coverage area.

  2. Benefits of Netgear Extender The Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wi-Fi extender uses Fast Lane technology to improve performance using both Wi-Fi bands. A fast processor also really helps (the Nighthawk has a Dual core 1GHz processor) by enabling maximum Wi-Fi throughput. One final feature that helps reduce speed loss is dual radios.

  3. How Netgear Extender works? Netgear Extenders receives signal from one of its antennas and after internal processing, retransmits it from another antenna. This amplified signal has extender signal amplitude which in turn increases router’s coverage area. Extender receives signal from router so always remember to keep extender in router’s coverage area. Once, coverage area is increased, user can sit far away from router and now intermittent signal drop issue can also be resolved.

  4. How to Configure a Netgear Extender 1- Put the extender as close to the Wi-Fi router as possible. You can move the extender to its new location after you complete the configuration process. 2- Connect the extender to an electrical outlet, and then wait approximately one minute for the device's Status LED to turn green. 3- Click the "Network" icon in the taskbar on your computer, and then select "Netgear Ext" from the list of Wi-Fi Networks to establish the connection. 4- Launch a new browser window to open the Netgear Genie Smart Setup page. If the page doesn't open, enter "mywifiext.net" (without quotes here and in subsequent commands) in the browser's address bar. Type "admin" in the Username field and "password" in the Password field to open the page. 5- Select your Wi-Fi network and click "Continue." Enter your network's password in the Pass Phrase box, and then click "Continue." 6- Enter a new name for the extender's Wi-Fi network in the "2.4GHz Network Name (SSID)" box, and then click "Continue." Select the "Use the Same Security Mode" check box to apply the security settings that your current Wi-Fi network uses to the extender's Wi-Fi network. 7- Connect all of your computers and wireless devices to the extender's new Wi-Fi network. 8- Click the "My wireless devices are connected to the Extender network" check box, and then click "Continue. 9- Disconnect the extender from the electrical outlet and relocate the device to a location that has a weak wireless signal from your original Wi-Fi network. 10- Connect the extender to a power source, and then wait for the Status LED light to turn green.
