  6. Pregame Discussion • Calgary comes off of a 39-36 loss to the Argonauts where their defence was scorched for 407 yards through the air and 118 yards on the ground. • Drew Tate left the game early with a shoulder injury. Kevin Glenn stepped in with a 15/19 performance generating 172 yards. He threw for 2 touchdowns but also gave up 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles. • Larry Taylor had a massive special teams day returning the ball for a total of 440 all purpose yards and 1 125 yard missed field goal for a touchdown. • Montreal rebounded from their beat down in Calgary to beat the Bombers in dominating fashion 41 to 30. • Anthony Calvillo scorched a very good Bombers secondary with a 443 yard and 3 touchdown performance. • Montreal’s front seven physically dominated the Winnipeg offensive line generating 3 sacks. • Brandon Whitaker racked up 236 overall yards while running in 1 touchdown and catching 2 touchdowns.

  7. When Calgary Passes • Kevin Glenn had a high passing percentage but failed to consistently move the team. He had 7 two and outs and only 4 drives longer then 2 plays • While the Stamps hit 8 receivers Nik Lewis was the primary receiver gaining 95 yards over 7 catches • Calgary’s offensive line was not good as the running game was stuffed by the Argo front 7 who also generated 4 sacks • Montreal still struggles against the passing game allowing 312 yards against. Advantage

  8. When Calgary Rushes • Jon Cornish has had a slow start to the season only rushing the ball 25 times for a 5 ypc average. • Jon Cornish claimed fatigue in the first game due to dehydration and was rarely used against Toronto once the Argo’s took the lead • LaMarcus Coker was ineffective in his debut game rushing 3 times for 8 yards • Montreal’s run stopping game was sharply improved over their week 1 result in Calgary holding Winnipeg to 80 yards and 1 touchdown Advantage

  9. When Montreal Passes • Anthony Calvillo was held in check by the Stampeders in game one, but exploded against a good Winnipeg secondary passing for 400 yards • Montreal heavily used Whitaker in their passing game against the Bombers hitting him for 98 yards and 2 TDs • Brandon Smith left the Toronto game early with a sprained knee and is probable for the game against Montreal, Jamar Wall is dressing as a precautionary db • Demetrius Morley the teams best coverage linebacker has gone home with a shoulder injury, Chris Randle will dress as his replacement • Montreal’s offensive line did a much better job of protecting their quarterback shutting out the Bombers defence in terms of sacks Advantage

  10. When Montreal Runs • Brandon Whitaker gained 98 yards on 16 carries and scored a touchdown on the ground • Calgary has the third ranked run defense allowing an average of 78 yards against per game. And only allowing 4 yards against per carry which is the best in the CFL. However a lot of that success came in the first game against Montreal Advantage

  11. Special Teams • Larry Taylor had a combined 444 yards on 11 return situation. He averaged 27.8 yards on 8 Kickoff returns and 35 yards on 2 punt returns. He also returned a 125 yard field goal return for a major • Rene Parades is now 3 for 4 kicking field goals with a 30.7 yard average. Rob Mavercontinues his strong season with a a 48.7 yard average on 10 punts with his longest being 63 yards • Trent Guy is their primary punt returner with 41 yards on 4 attempts • Noel Devine has been Montreal’s primary kickoff returner with a 19.5 yard average on 11 kickoff returns • Sean Whyte is 3 for 3 on field goals with a 35.7 yard average. On punts he’s got a 40.7 yard average on 13 punts Advantage

  12. Intangibles • Montreal will be seeking revenge for the beating they received in Calgary • With injuries to Morley and Smith Calgary is weaker in terms of pass coverage • Calgary will be using Kevin Glenn as a quarterback while Drew Tate remains on the sidelines • Calgary comes off of a short week of rest on the road after a very physical game against the Argos Advantages
