The 2010 hoverfly recording report for Bedfordshire reveals exciting developments, including the identification of seven new species. Notable findings include Pipiza fenestrata and the vulnerable Brachyopa bicolor. County recording has improved significantly, with 230 tetrads now visited out of approximately 380. Our knowledge has been enhanced through early records, aided by museum visits. Special thanks to our dedicated observers and photographers for their invaluable contributions. Priorities for 2011 involve targeting elusive spring species and expanding tetrad visits.
