  3. DIRECTIONS: Open to p.5 of “Fish Cheeks” packet: • At your group, uncover a theme about identity that applies to all 3 stories. • Call me over when you think you have it worded perfectly.

  4. Possible identity theme options: • It is difficult to reveal one’s true identity. • Adolescents are often encouraged to conceal their true identity. • During adolescence, there is pressure to change your identity. • Teens have the hardest time showing their true identity. • People express their identity so they can show their true feelings.

  5. Possible identity theme options: • Teenagers feel the most pressure to reveal their true identities to others. • Hiding your true identity only makes life more difficult. • People hide their true identities because they are insecure. • People drown in fear over showing their true identity.

  6. Please take out your identity theme handout from yesterday: • Complete the graphic organizer, finding 2 specific pieces of evidence from each story. • All examples need a page # (except the film). • You MUST have at least ONE direct quote from each short story.
