  1. Polypropylene Sandbags - The Best Tool For Flood Defense  Sandbags, which are made of woven polypropylene and filled with sand or soil for flood control or military fortification, have come a long way. Originally designed for temporarily defending against floods and for military applications, they were made from hessian, also known as jute. Now they are being made with polypropylene that is extruded and then woven on a loom into the fabric. That fabric is then cut into the bag shape and sewn together to make the woven polypropylene sand bags. Both simple and effective, they can prevent or reduce the damage from flood water. Sandbags may be used during emergencies when rivers threaten to overflow, or a levee or dike is damaged. Having bags on-hand and quick action could save countless dollars in personal and property damage. Properly filled and placed sandbags function as a barrier to divert moving water around, instead of through, buildings. Though sandbags do not provide a water-tight seal, they work well in most cases, even in areas that require large barriers. Woven Polypropylene Bags as Sand bags Woven polypropylene sand bags are reusable, light but strong, resistant to tearing, don’t degrade when wet, are dust proof and water resistant, and won’t be affected by soil bacteria or attract any rodents. Polypropylene is a rugged material that is unusually resistant to chemicals, bases, and acids. These

Woven polypropylene is created by taking strips or threads of poly and weaving them together in opposite directions to form a strong, lightweight material. Polypropylene sand bags can last from 8 months to a year, but there are no guarantees, especially if they are sitting in the sun. The most common size for woven polypropylene sand bags is 14 inches by 26 inches. This dimension, and the weight of sand a bag this size can hold, allows for the construction of an interlocked wall like brickwork. They are not too heavy to lift and move into place. WINFAB Sandbags WINFAB Sandbags are manufactured using high tenacity polypropylene yarns woven to form a dimensionally stable network, which allows the yarns to maintain their relative position.
