Learn how to capture still images from your digital video project for effective storytelling. Use popular DV editing software like ULEAD, PINNACLE, or Windows Movie Maker to save frames as JPEGs or Bitmaps. Integrate these images into your PowerPoint presentation for added impact. Annotate them with callouts to provide context and explanations for your visuals. Use the drawing toolbar to create callouts and type in your content, covering opening titles, themes, transitions, special effects, and soundtracks. Finally, print handouts for distribution.

Still Images • In most DV editing software’s you can save separate frames of your movie as ‘still’ images (i.e. JPEGs or Bitmaps) • In ULEAD this is ‘Save frame as still image’, in PINNACLE it is ‘Save Video Grab’, in WMM it is ‘Take picture from preview’ etc. • The saved images can then be inserted into this PowerPoint Presentation • Finally, print out this completed presentation as ‘Handouts – 6 to a page’.
Use Callouts to annotate your stills • Go to ‘View/Toolbars’ and check the ‘Drawing’ toolbar • Select Autoshapes/Callouts • Draw your callouts on the slides and insert text to explain your still images Type inside this callout to explain your images
