Our Aims • To encourage everyone to be active and healthy by walking to school • To keep everyone safe coming to school • To encourage safe parking and travel around our school • To teach everyone about Road Safety • Our S.T.A.R.S travel plan will help everyone find • active and safe ways to come to school

  5. Achieving our aims • Produce school Travel Plan • Carry out Travel Surveys • Carry out Street Audit • Road Safety education (for all school users/ visitors ) • Zig – zag campaign

  6. Travel Survey Results Number of Pupils Classes As you can see 288 children took part in our survey. Most children walk to school (155). Many children came by car (117). In P1 and P4 more children came by car than walk. Only three children came to the school by bike.

Action plan • School Travel Plan • Create, Monitor, Evaluate & Update • Access to copy of School Travel Plan • Road Safety education (for all school users/ visitors) • Contact Community Action Team – Organise Road safety talks/ activities • Inform whole school of S.T.A.R.S team & its aims • Promote safe, healthy travel to parents/ guardians • Highlight road safety concerns in school newsletter, S.TA.R.S & JRSO notice boards • School gate parking • Carry out Zig-zag/ school gate parking survey/ campaign • Assess requirement of Green & Red parking zones • Local authorities/ partnership working • Report faults/ repairs to GCC Roads Dept (potholes, faded markings etc) • Liaise with Police, Parking Attendants & Community Support Officers on ongoing issues • & for additional support
