  2. #1 Linking • Starts with an equals sign (a link is a formula!) • Dynamically joins data • Automatically updates • Much safer then copying and pasting

  3. #2 Text To Columns • Lots of text in one cell • Highlight the column • Use the Text to Column button • Data Ribbon • Select the proper delimiter

  4. # 3 The Fill Handle • Little Black Box • Left click and drag down • Establish the pattern! • Double clicking can save lots of time

  5. # 4 Deleting Duplicates • Highlight your list • Select delete duplicates • Data Ribbon • Select the correct column • Excel leaves the 1st instance and deletes the rest

  6. #5 Hiding & Unhiding Cells • Select the rows or columns • Right click • Choose Hide Cells • Remember what is hidden can be unhidden!!!

  7. #6 Filtering • Fast way to visualize data • Data Ribbon • Drop down arrows appear (but do NOT print) • Can filter on multiple criteria

  8. #7 Subtotals • Fastest way to get counts and sums • Data Tab • ALWAYS sort your list first! • Pay careful attention to column selection • Choose function • Summary Below Data
