What is SharePoint?(1)  • It is a popular web platform developed by Microsoft for small to large organizations. • It is designed as a centralized replacement for multiple web applications and supports various combinations of enterprise website requirements and typically associated with document management systems. • It is dynamic and interactive - Members can provide their ideas and opinions and response and give feedback to other members on SharePoint.

What is SharePoint?(2)  It's a network platform that enterprises use it to integrate many documents or information. • Sharing document - Authorized people can view or modify. • Collaborative operation - People can deal with the same document in different place and different time. • Web platform - There is no limit of time and place. Besides, it provides enterprises content management, enterprise search, and personal profiles.

Microsoft Groove-Introduction(1) • A desktop application designed for document-collaboration in teams with members who are regularly off-line or who do not share the same network security clearance. • Groove was initially developed by Lotus Notes creator Ray Ozzie, and developed by Groove Networks of Beverly, Massachusetts until Microsoft's acquisition of Groove Networks in March 2005. • Microsoft SharePoint Workspace 2010, the new name for Microsoft Office Groove.

What is SharePoint Workspace?(2) • Microsoft SharePoint Workspace 2010 allows you to access your SharePoint content whether or not you are connected to the SharePoint server or working offline.  • When you are connected to the SharePoint server, all content updates on the server and in the workspace are automatically synchronized.  • When you are not connected, changes you make in the workspace are cached locally. The next time you connect to the SharePoint server, all changes are automatically synchronized.

Types of workspaces in sharepoint workspace SharePoint Workspace offers three workspace types:  • SharePoint workspaces,allow you to create a copy of a SharePoint site on your computer that is automatically synchronized with the server.  • Groove workspaces With Groove workspaces, groups or organizations with common purposes and goals can share ideas and work together.It will be familiar to anyone who has used an earlier release of this software, such as Office Groove 2007. This type of workspace typically contains a variety of productivity tools, added as needed.
