  5. Drug resistant TB develops when TB germs become resistant to the 2 most powerful antibiotics normally used to treat TB. Eish! Dr! Please can you explain that? This simply means that the medicines used to treat normal TB will not work effectively as they can no longer kill the TB germs.

  6. If I am found to have multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB), I will need to take drugs for at least 24 months (2 years). My course of treatment will have 2 phases: PHASE 1 1 injection everyday + 4 DIFFERENT KINDS of tablets everyday **for AT LEAST 6 MONTHS** = The ‘INJECTABLE PHASE’ THEN PHASE 2 4 DIFFERENT KINDS of tablets everyday **for 18 MONTHS** = The ‘CONTINUATION PHASE’
