The Early Intervention Program (EIP) at Mashburn Elementary is designed to support students at risk of not achieving or maintaining academic grade levels. EIP provides additional instructional resources to help students fill any educational gaps in reading and math. While students must re-qualify each year, EIP offers targeted instruction in small groups, ensuring tailored support. Parents are encouraged to engage in reading and vocabulary building at home. For questions or more information, contact Michelle Abrams, Lynne Mashburn, or Linda Young.

Mashburn Elementary2013-2014Welcome to EIPEarly Intervention Program
What is E.I.P.? “The Early Intervention Program is designed to serve students who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. The purpose of the E.I.P. is to provide additional instructional resources to help students obtain the necessary academic skills in the shortest time possible.”
EIP is “extra help,” like a band-aid. Students have many successful skills, but a few “holes” or gaps here and there that need to be filled. Our role is to make them “whole.” We often refer to EIP as “double dosing”. Entry into EIP is NOT automatic each year. Unlike Special Education or Horizons, students are not automatically in the program each year. Students have to re-qualify for the program each year.

Schedule • 30 or 45 minute segment • Daily direct instruction in reading and/or math in small group format • Teachers team teach with the classroom teacher during their regular math/reading time.
