  8. 1) Battle Between Our Hopes

  9. We are hope based creatures!

  10. Our hope for tomorrow will shape our behaviour today

  11. Consider the inevitability...

  12. If my present behaviour is not aligned with my future hope, I have to ask myself what my real hope is.

  13. 1 Corinthians 15:1 1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.

  14. Isa 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  15. The first battle is the battle between our hope in God and our hope in things other than God.

  16. If our ruling hope is anything other than God, that very hope will wear us out and cause us to fall.

  17. The second battle between our hopes is the battle between our earthly hopes and our eternal hopes!

  18. 1 Corinthians 15:19 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

  19. 2) Understanding Our Hope

  20. Blessed Hope Titus 2:11-14 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

  21. We contribute nothing to our salvation except our sin!

  22. Better Hope Hebrews 7:18-19 18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

  23. Living Hope 1 Peter 1:3-4 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,

  24. We don't lay hold of this hope; this hope lays hold of us!

  25. 3) Living Our Hope

  26. 1 Corinthians 15:1 1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
