    8. Engage Brain First! Sender What is your message? Who is your receiver? What is the best way to get your message received and understood by your receiver? Tell Three Times Tell em what youre gonna tell em Tell em Tell em what you told em Receiver What do you want to learn? Who is the sender? Receive actively Listen Check for understanding

Listening & Reporting Active Listening Pay attention, dont interrupt Ask questions for clarification Listen to what is said, not just you want to hear Watch body language Listen for feelings Try to see the speakers POV Curb your desire to talk until speaker finished Paraphrase back Take notes

Prepare and deliver to your counselor an introduction of the person as though this person were to be a guest speaker. Why would the audience want to hear this person speak? How would you call to invite this person? What would you say?

    19. Sample Interview Questions What is your full name and title? What are your duties? What do you like best about your career? What is the most difficult challenge? Did you go to college or get special training? What do you enjoy doing away from work?
