  3. Carrying a ton of notes? • Put key points on cards every day and revise from these

  4. No time to revise? • With index cards you can revise anytime, anywhere!

  5. Wherever you are • Five minutes after every lecture can transform a pile of notes into key point cards you can revise from

  6. Make points memorable by.. • Memorable or unusual associations • Structured maps or links • Explaining to others • Reviewing and reorganising them

  7. Collating, Comparing, Constructing • Comparing.contrasting & communicating ideas visually to help make sense of them • SCRAN albums are designed to help you research/restructure information this way

  8. Putting off the Evil Moment??

  9. Allergic to revision? • Reduce your notes to a manageable pile of index cards • Use old exam papers in exam conditions

  10. Study in a group • Take a topic each to revise • Can get you into a study routine if you find it hard to start!

  11. Nowhere to study? • Too many people in the library? • Too many distractions on campus?

  12. You could try… • Public Bar – works for some • Public Library Reference sections -quiet corners no-one ever uses

  13. Time running out? • Revise with old exam papers and target key topics • Libraries usually have copies of these

  14. Know what markers look for Answering the question. Read it very carefully to see what the answer must include. (e.g. ‘Compare’ requires 2 points of view) Providing evidence Give evidence for statements, and try to use course reading references

  15. Academic Essay Format e.g. key points made and developed with examples in separate paragraphs e.g. logical links as ‘signposts’ between these
