  1. Certain Brand Names Are Remembered for All the Right Reasons We live in a world where branding and leading brand names have become important – often because certain great qualities are associated with a certain name, whereas others may not enjoy the same high profile. In the world of shooting, for example, specific names will always stand out, whether you enjoy competition and wing-shooting, or whether you are looking for a great hunting rifle to stalk deer with. With regard to hunting rifles it is true that certain hunting rifle brands and manufacturers will always be popular, such as the different choices of Savage Arms, Remington, Ruger and, of course, the Blaser. The Blaser name, just like some other leading manufacturers such as, say, Krieghoff, traces its roots back to Germany and the precision they are often known and appreciated for. Blaser is well known for their presence in the high end market of both shotguns and rifles. The company has had a headquarters in the US since 2008 when they established themselves in San Antonio, TX as a leading force for buyers looking for all the fine qualities that hunters and shooters are after. Their well-known Blaser 93 was developed in 1993 as a straight-pull bolt-action rifle for the hunter and became a very successful hunting rifle all over the world within a short space of time. The 93 was discontinued in 2016/17 but the Blaser name lives on in the extremely popular R8 straight-pull model that is based on the older 93 – and other offerings such as combination guns and their well-supported Blaser F3 and F16.

  2. The Blaser R8 has made a name for itself among the leaders and continues to do so for a number of reasons. Many hunters and also writers test rifles for quality and features like the R8 for one of its discerning qualities, the straight-pull action of its bolt, which many feel is much quicker, for example, than is experienced with similar rifles. Another feature that is often mentioned is the modular system that allows interchangeable barrels of different length and thickness to suit personal preference, which means it will be easy to carry in a perfectly suitable travelling case to be assembled when you arrive for the hunt. It is also available in different calibers from .204 Ruger to .500 Jeffery, all making interchangeability of calibers easy for the shooter when he/she needs that feature. All of this makes it easy and convenient for the hunter, even if it is not the most discerning and admired feature for many, but it adds to its practical features. But, more so than the mentioned features, the R8 is, for many, a great example of a rifle that ensures good shot placement while out there in the field as it helps eliminate unnecessary movement when aiming is of the essence and no time can be wasted. The R8 is also mentioned for its great safety features. For example: it has a detachable trigger unit which, when detached, makes the rifle inoperable and therefore absolutely safe. It also offers a manual cocking system: the rifle is cocked just before you shoot. If you do not take the shot, you simply press down on the cocking lever to de-cock the rifle. These, and other features, have contributed to the Blaser’s popularity among hunters looking for a hunting rifle that is known for special qualities to set it apart from many others. Many owners also mention the R8 for its ergonomic features that set it apart from lesser rifles as it is often mentioned for its great stock design that contributes to the overall experience for the hunter. This, coupled with some other great qualities such as its safety and accuracy, makes the R8 one of the best in its class – and a favorite with buyers of high-end firearms.
