  1. School improvement plan June 2019

  2. situation • On 14 August 2019 we will have 14 certified staff members and 3 support staff to begin the 2019-20 School Year. On 15 August 2019 we will have 637 students in our Introduction classes and 405 students in our skill level classes. These students range from grades 9-12. We will also have students from outlying schools participate in our program. • We will be going through 3 straight years of change in leadership, and are working to grow and develop our community profile. • We have a growing relationship with JWCC, but it continues to need to be developed to ensure a K-14 talent pipeline for local industry.

  4. strengths • Career Exploration • Community and Industry partnerships • Hands-on experiences that relate directly to real-world experiences • Preparation for entry-level employment in their field of interest • Work-based learning opportunities (lab activities, field-trips, guest speakers, and job shadowing opportunities)

Areas to improve • Integration of Core Academics • Clear pipelines for students into Industry after graduation (apprenticeships, articulation agreements, and placement services) • Participation of outlying schools in all QAVTC programs • Curriculum alignment in all programs (articulation with JWCC and Industry credentials) • Student engagement and participation in QAVTC programs

  6. goals • Pilot academic integration with QHS through Competency-Based-Education. • Partner with local Industry to develop Career Pathways and Talent pipelines. • Increase outlying school tours of QAVTC and improve information provided to counselors and parents. • Partner with JWCC to develop articulation agreements for relevant QAVTC courses, and identify relevant Industry credentials for students to earn in QAVTC programs. • Increase student participation and retention in all QAVTC programs, using professional development and partnering with local student support groups (i.e. Teen Reach)
