2. Where Kush and Muroe are located The Ancient Kingdom of Kush was formally located in Nubia which is now Southern Sudan.

3. Kush and their Money • Kush made money by exporting iron hoes, knives, spears, hides, frankincense. • They also used trading as a type of currency. • They got anything else that they might have neededby bargaining with people in their community.

4. Religion • In ancient Kush it is thought that the religion of the Kushites was widely influenced by Egypt. • Kushites were Polytheistic. They worshiped gods such as: the moon god Khonsu, the ibis headed Thoth, and the goddesses Isis, Hathor, and Mut. • Another God was Horus who symbolized the pharaonic authority.

5. Art • Archeologist have found ceramic figurines and bowls. • Temples had Egyptian pictures on the walls. • Many archeologists compare Egyptian hieroglyphics to the art and drawings of the Kush.

6. Houses • Houses were made of sandstone palaces and other houses were made with red brick. • Walls of the buildings were covered with blue of yellow tile or some were often painted.

7. Women • Women in Kushian culture were important although not as important as men. • Women were made into high priestesses and lady’s of the houses. • Women were not as important as men though. They were not allowed to barter or trade by themselves.

8. Government • The government of the Kushian empire was a monarchy. • There were kings and queens who ruled over their land. • When a monarch died the Kushites buried their leaders with all their courtiers in a mass grave.

9. War and Conflict • Kush had many peaceful treaties with Egypt, because of the close proximity between the two countries. • When Egypt was invaded in 1720 when Egypt was invaded by Asian Nomads al ties between the two countries were severed. • When a new kingdom arose the Pharaoh Ahmose 1 incorporated Kush as an Egyptian province. • In 750 B.C. the Kushite King called Kashta conquered upper Egypt thus effectively ending major Egyptian rule in Kush.

10. Places Invaded • The only place to have been recorded in history to have been invaded by the Kushites is Egypt. • This is believed to be because of the continuous conflict between the two over land and the close proximity.

11. Languages/Literature • The language spoken in Kush is believed to be an ancient form of Egyptian. • The language spoken in Meroe is said to be Merotic, which was spoken in both Meroe and Sudan around 300 B.C. through 400 B.C. • Merotic manuscript is also to have come form a type of Egyptian Hieroglyphics.
