  1. EVIL What it is, and how we overcome it! Week 2

  2. Galatians 5:17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

  3. Luke 4:36 Amazed, the people exclaimed, “What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!”

  4. Mark 1:39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. Mark 6:13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

  5. Luke 4:41 Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah.

  6. Ezekiel 28:12-16 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “‘You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: carnelian, chrysolite and emerald, topaz, onyx and jasper, lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they

  7. Ezekiel 28:12-16 were prepared. 14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. 16 Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you

  8. Ezekiel 28:12-16 in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones.

  9. Isaiah 14:12-16 “How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. 13 For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. 14 I will climb to the highest

  10. Isaiah 14:12-16 heavens and be like the Most High.’ 15 Instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths. 16 Everyone there will stare at you and ask, ‘Can this be the one who shook the earth and made the kingdoms of the world tremble?

  11. What do these verses tell us about Satan? • He was created by God as the Guardian Cherub (Class of angel) • He stood before the throne of God • He was beautiful and full of wisdom • Then he thought he could do a better job than God could • He lead a violent rebellion against God • He was expelled from the throne of God and Heaven • He now calls the Earth home

  12. Matthew 25:41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

  13. 1 Thessalonians 2:18 For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan blocked our way.

  14. Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;

  15. Luke 10:17-20 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” 18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

  16. Acts 26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

  17. Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the

  18. Ephesians 6:10-13 full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground

  19. We have to take a stand • We have God’s power on our side • We have the right equipment available for us to use • We need it to fight a different enemy • We have to learn to fight in a different way

  20. Ephesians 6:14-18 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation

  21. Ephesians 6:14-18 and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

  22. John 17:15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

  23. 2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

  24. We can not be comfortable around evil Proverbs 3:7 - Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

  25. We can not allow evil to even be around us Psalm 119:101 -  I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.

  26. Evil has to become something that we hate Romans 12:9 - Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Psalm 97:10 - Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
