  7. *new in APACS+ OS V7.0 APACS+ OS Process Object (PO) A Process Object is a control function which includes alarming* and has an HMI content (a Faceplate) Overview of Benefits 1 PO HMI Faceplate Function Block (DFB or UDFB e.g. Control) Includes Alarming + Runs in the controller Runs on the Operator Station DFB – Derived Function Block UDFB - User Defined Function Block Counting Process Objects simplifies Server Licensing and uses the same definitions used by PCS 7.

  8. Improved Engineering Efficiency (More Automation in DBA)A Technological Win-Win Overview • Auto-Generate Type Definitions • No need to create type definition text files. • Auto-Generate Instance Definitions • No need to create Overlay Files or include HMI Comments. • Lock-down updates to a Picture • Prevents unwanted changes to symbols/block icons. • Auto-Generate Tag Logging • Eliminates separate engineering steps currently required to define tags to be logged. • Direct Import of ProcessSuite Tags • Utilizes the existing Engineering effort that has already been done to define 3rd Party devices integrated into ProcessSuite via OPC Servers, typically PLCs. • This import includes the definition of scale, engineering units, description, and alarm/message definitions. Overview of Benefits Reduce the time and costs required to engineer projects that include customized controller objects, by reducing errors through automation. APACS+ OS V7.0

  9. Improved Engineering Efficiency Auto-Generate Type Definitions using theType Editor Details • APACS+ allows users to create their own standards for Process Objects in the controller. • The Type Editor allows the auto-creation of the type definition • In V6.1 extra effort was required within DBA to create the proper database by modifying Defined Type Files and updating HMI Comments. • The Type Editor allows you to browse the controller configuration to select specific attributes to be included in a type. • DBA will display a tree-view of an APACS+ network sheet showing DFBs, UDFBs, SFBs and associated nubs, softlist parameters, and variables. From this view the user can select the attributes that are to be defined as HMI-Relevant. • Existing APACS+ OS custom defined type files are automatically updated to the new schema. • All Type definition is now stored in the DBA project, instead of in numerous difficult to read and edit text files. Overview of Benefits The Type Editor reduces time and costs to engineer projects by not having to create “cryptic” defined type files. APACS+ OS V7.0

  10. DBA V6.1 Database Automation Architecture OLD One target system PCS 7 DBA User Interface APACS+ Plug-in • Object Types • Object Instances • Address Information Type Definition Manual Creation of Type Definition File (NotePad) Creation of custom Type Definition Files was one of the most labor intensive tasks when upgrading to APACS+ OS + APACS+ Type Definition File APACS+ OS V7.0

  11. DBA V7.0Auto-Generates Type Definitions New One target system PCS 7 DBA User Interface APACS+ Plug-in New Type Definition with Browsing functionality • Object Types • Object Instances • Address Information Automatic Creation of Type Definition File (no Note Pad needed) Elimination of manual created external text type definition files for each object type significantly reduces engineering effort to upgrade. APACS+ APACS+ OS V7.0

  12. DBA V7.0Auto-Generate Instance Definitions Details • The HMI Overlay File was introduced in V6.0 to append HMI Comments to existing controller configurations. • The Overlay File is particularly helpful when HMI comments are not complete and or up-to-date. • DBA can Auto-Generate an Instance as defined by the Type name of the UDFB. • No HMI Comment required, no Overlay File required. • The Instance Editor provides a browser interface that allows the user to browse to an existing object and define it as HMI relevant. • Existing HMI Overlay Files are automatically imported into the Instance Editor when the project is first opened in V7.0. • All Instance definitions are now stored within the DBA project instead of an external csv file. Overview of Benefits The Instance Editor reduces the time and costs required to engineer projects where HMI Comments are not complete. APACS+ OS V7.0

  13. Configuration Browse View DBA V7.0Auto-Generate Instance Definitions New One target system PCS 7 DBA User Interface APACS+ Plug-in New Select the HMI relevant instance configured in the controller. Instance Definition with Browsing functionality APACS+ Eliminate typing errors by either Auto-Generating Instances without HMI comments or by browsing the as-configured controller application; saving time, effort, and costs. APACS+ OS V7.0

  14. DBA V7.0 Direct Import of ProcessSuite Tags One target system PCS 7 DBA User Interface New APACS+ Plug-in OPC ES Data ProcessSuite Direct Database Import • Provides Support for Integrating any PLC, such as Allen Bradley or Modicon for which an OPC Server exists. • This import includes the definition of scale, engineering units, description, and alarm/message definitions. APACS+ Engineering costs are reduced by eliminating the need to manipulate csv files, thereby saving time and effort. APACS+ OS V7.0

  15. Auto-Generate Tag Logging Add Tags to History based on Type Definition • In DBA the user selects tags for historization by the OS Server • Standard Trending available in PCS 7 has been improved in V7.0. • APACS+ OS V6.1 Enhanced Trend now included with PCS 7 V7.0 SP1 • The trend control now allows the user to export the trend trace data displayed on a trend. Overview of Benefits Define storage frequency and define as ShortTerm or LongTerm storage. Engineering costs are reduced by being able to define historization requirements on a type basis. APACS+ OS V7.0

  18. Details Improve Your Operator Response to Emergency Alarms • Emergency Alarms: Icon “ ” visually informs operators that alarms defined as “Emergency Response Required” have occurred. • All alarms defined as Priority 16 will be identified via this icon and can be viewed on a pre-configured Alarm view. • Alarm Hiding: The operator can manually Hide Alarms. • Alarms remain hidden for a pre-determined period of time; minutes, hours, or days • The alarms will continue to be generated and logged, however the system will auto-acknowledge them. • A pre-configured display summarizes all alarms that have been hidden. • A pre-configured display summarizes all alarms that have been hidden and are actually in alarm. Overview of Benefits Improving operator response to alarms ensures that alarms that require an “Emergency Response” are not lost in the alarm flood that can occur during a plant upset. APACS+ OS V7.0

  19. Identification of “Emergency Response Required” Alarms New • Icon on Alarm one line is visible when at least one alarm with Priority Class 16 is active. Overview of Benefits Alarm list shows “Highest Priority Alarms” Improving operator response to alarms ensures that alarms that require an “Emergency Response” are not lost in the alarm flood that can occur during a plant upset. APACS+ OS V7.0

  20. The Operator can choose Alarms to Hide New Hide/Unhide Messages • Alarms remain hidden for a pre-determined period of time; minutes, hours, or days • The alarms will continue to be generated and logged, however the system will auto-acknowledge them. APACS+ OS V7.0

  21. License Management Unified within PCS 7APACS+ OS now counts Process Objects Details • Starting in PCS 7 V7.0 SP1 WinCC will begin to count Process Objects rather than WinCC tags. • DBA marks all APACS+ created structures as Process Objects that include Messages/Alarming. • The new license schema does two calculations: • POs = POs counted + (Non PO external tags/25) • WinCC Structures without Alarming • POs = All External Tags/50 • As an Example: • In V6.1 64,000 WinCC Tags = 2000 POs • In V7.0 64,000 WinCC Tags = 1280 POs • The calculated PO number in the above two calculations must not exceed the # of licensed POs. • APACS+ projects average less than 50 tags per Process Object, therefore this should not be an issue when upgrading to V7.0. Overview of Benefits Using the same License Management concept as PCS 7 simplifies system specification with expansions using PCS 7. APACS+ OS V7.0

  22. Faceplate and Symbols added for SINGLE_LOOP_EMThis Controller Object is Configured to support Emergency Manual Available Symbols Standard View Overview of Benefits Loop View Indicates that “Manual” operation has been forced, freezing the controller output at the current value.
