  3. Childhood • Born March 21st, 1685, in Eisenach, Germany • Orphan at 10 and taken in by his brother, Johann Christoph, until he was 15 • Went to Lüneburg for school and to work in a church • Was a Soprano singing voice until his voice changed and started playing the violin and harpsichord.

Career • 1st job was for the court of Duke Johann Ernst in Weimar • Filled in for others • Organist at church in Arnstadt • Left to see a famous musician and extended visit • Organist at Church of St. Blaise in Mühlhausen • 1721, He created orchestra concertos which are called the Brandenburg Concertos

Life • 1906, he married his cousin Maria Barbara Bach • They had 7 children together, some died as infants • Maria died in 1720 while Bach was away playing for the Duke • He married singer, Anna Magdalena Wülcken, a year after • They had 13 children and more than half died • By 1740, Bach was struggling with his eyesight • Surgery year after was failed attempt • On July 28,1750, Bach died from a stroke • His sons, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, and Johann Christian Bach all went onto musical careers.
