EWK Drell-Yan Status Update and Future Plans - 2008 CERN Meeting

This document summarizes the status and future plans of the EWK Drell-Yan project as presented by Dimitri Bourilkov from the University of Florida during the General EWK Meeting at CERN on July 21, 2008. It covers critical topics such as top-pair background estimation in e+e- and µ+µ- events, efficiency evaluations with tag and probe methods, and the analysis of Z+Jets. The document also discusses advancements in data analysis techniques and outlines next steps for the project's future research directions.

  1. EWK Drell-Yan: Status and Plans Dimitri Bourilkov University of Florida General EWK Meeting, CERN, July 21, 2008

  2. Drell-Yan Meetings 3 & 4 EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  3. Top-pair background in e+e- - eμ study Vincent Dero, Pascal Vanlaer top-pair background very important Can be estimated with eμ events EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  4. Top-pair background in µ+µ- - b tags Jonatan Piedra (TevMu) top-pair background sizable Estimation using b-tags EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  5. Efficiency – Tag & Probe • Chang Liu (Purdue) • Reconstruction & Trigger efficiencies • T & P at Z peak in good shape • To do – off peak DY EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  6. Dilution Corrected AFB Ping Tan, Dan Green Sample size is about 50-100 pb-1 data. Do event-by-event correction of the dilution, select events with |y|>0.75. EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  7. Obtained the mass resolution from MC at this moment, including both momentum resolution & FSR effect. Core Gaussian width is 0.027+0.0104 m0 Mass Resolutions & Corrections for Smearing Ping Tan, Dan Green EWK Drell-Yan: Status

  8. Z+Jets – PAT Analysis • Analysis of Z+Jets (Chowder) using Physics Analysis Toolkit (PAT): Monika Jindal, Kajari Mazumdar, Jasbir Singh Invariant Mass Distribution of Dimuons Selection criteria applied :  Tracker isolation has been used with Sumpt <3.0 Gev in deltaR = 0.3 No. of muons must be >=2  Muons must be oppositely charged with cosDf between two muons <=-0.5 Comparison of Invariant Mass for Z/tt/W + Jets process In case of Z+jets , there is cut of m_ll <40 and m_ll >200 at the Generation level (Events have been normalized to 1.0 to compare the shape) EWK Drell-Yan: Status
