  2. Abe’s beginning • Born February 12, 1809 in Kentucky • Abe’s parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. • Abe had two siblings: an older sister, Sarah and an infant brother, Thomas who died. http://www.webrangers.us/activities/abelincoln/

  3. Abe’s youth “My Best Friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read.” –Abe Lincoln Abe moves to Indiana in 1812. Abe loses his mother at the age of 8. In 1819, Abe’s father remarries widow with three children. (Sarah Bush Johnston) Sister, Sarah marries in 1826 and dies giving birth in 1828. In 1830, Abe moves with family to Illinois. Abe borrowed and read books when possible.

Re-elected 1864. • Civil War begins "A house divided against itself cannot stand.”-Abe Lincoln • Issues Emancipation Proclamation to free slaves • April 14, 1865 – Lincoln is shot at Ford ‘s Theater. • Lincoln dies April 15. • John Wilkes Booth , Lincoln’s assassin is killed in Virginia 11 days later. • December 6, 1865 – 13th Amendment is passed abolishing slavery. “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves. “ -Abe Lincoln
