  1. Things To Know About IVF Treatment The IVF treatment is a fairly expensive and intensive procedure to conceive babies artificially and is recommended only after all other procedures have been tried and failed numerous times. For all the couples out there seeking to undergo fertility treatment in Bangalore or anywhere else in the world, here is a list of things to know before undergoing the IVF treatment. Fertility Drugs Hormonesin the form of pills may be prescribed, followed by multiple blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor the hormone levels and prescriptions are adjusted as per need. There is a risk of a side effect of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which is immense pain caused by the overstimulation of the ovaries. The main goal of this procedure is to make sure the production of multiple eggs and increase chances of fertilization, pregnancy, and a live birth. IVF Procedure and fertilization Once the eggs are in the right conditions of maturity, they are triggered to be released by an injection of the right hormones to initiate the process and the eggs are collected from the uterus while the patient is under the anesthetic by using a catheter needle. The eggs are then transferred to an incubator where they are either mixed together with the sperm of the partner or the sperm is directly injected into the embryo, a procedure called Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection. Egg Implant The fertilized eggs can take about a week to mature into embryos. The best embryos are selected and transferred to the uterus using a small tube called catheter guided by ultrasound, often multiple embryo implants are recommended to increase chances of success, but also increase the chance of multiple births which have a higher risk factor. Additional hormones hCG and progesterone are also provided to make the environment for the pregnancy optimal. The procedure for implant can take 30 minutes to an hour. The patient then comes back for a pregnancy test later on. Success Rate of IVF Procedures The overall success rate of these procedures can vary from 50 – 60% and can vary depending on various factors such as age and health of both the partners and virility of the male partner and also some external factors such as lifestyle, nutrition, environment. The risks of failure and cancellation of pregnancy in the procedure increase with the age of the woman after the age of 30. The causes for failure is more often the health conditions of the

Causes for IVF Failures Uterine abnormalities such as uterine fibroids/endometrial polyps/septum, etc. can be a cause for implantation failures. Poor quality or a thin endometrial lining is not suitable for implantation. Embryo quality is also a major factor for the success of IVF. Chromosomally abnormal embryos or poor quality embryos face difficulty in implantation or success after. Genetic abnormalities in the male or female gamete can compromise the quality of the embryo. Autoimmune diseases sufferers risk recurrent IVF failures.Other diseases such as Thyroid disorders, uncontrolled diabetes can also prevent pregnancy. Difficulty in embryo transfer is the most crucial step of the embryo transfer if done improperly can cause a failure in IVF process. Suboptimal stimulation of the ovaries can cause due to the inability of production of eggs for fertilization. Hydrosalpinges, When Dilated fallopian tubes leak out the fluid into the uterine cavity, which has been found to be toxic to the embryo. Endometriosis, Another reproductive system illness that hinders the success of IVF if not addressed adequately. Age is a major factor that influences IVF success. There is a lower chance of success for a successful IVF without regular ovulatory cycles, women over 35 years of age have drastic changes in hormonal levels that cause a decrease in the number of eggs produced and also leads to anovulatory cycles the closer menopause. Women who are overweight due to PCOS can also have repeated failures and even underweight/anorexic women can also fail to ovulate due to reduced hormone estrogen leading to absent or irregular periods. Cost of the IVF procedure IVF procedures are often expensive and may be chosen when other less-expensive ways to get pregnant have been unsuccessful. An IVF procedure can be taxing on the time, finance and body and requires full commitment. There are many places that provide affordable infertilityIVF treatment in Bangalore that can be consulted to determine which of the clinics is most suited to their budget and convenience. For coulples that have been trying to conceive for a long time and every method has failed, in vitro fertilization is the best chance at pregnancy.
