Anyone can have an oily skin irrespectiveof age, gender or geographic location. An oilyskin typically faces concerns such as acne, blackheads, whiteheads, cyst formation etc.Pollution and dirt can even lead to comedones forthose with very oily skin. The only way around isto contain if not reduce the production of oil, andprevent dust from coming in contact with the skinby following these very simple oily skin care tips. To wash your face is a must. Try washing at leasttwice a day. Salicylic acid containing face wash isideal to reduce the oiliness of the face but over doing it can cause lot of dryness and cracks.Alternatively, benzoyl peroxide containing facewash also helps in reducing oiliness of the face.Word of advice would be to consult yourdermatologist before starting application of any medicated face wash.  Cleanse the skin. There are two types of cleansers. One is for normal skin type and the other is for oily skin. A proper and thorough skin analysis by your dermatologist prior to using any cleanser is advisable.  Apply Sunscreen. Use of sunscreen daily in the morning before leaving for work is a must in oily skin care management. Application of sunscreen forms a barrier and prevents the dust from coming in contact with the skin, which can otherwise cause other problems such as cyst formation, acne, comedones (commonly known as white heads and black heads), etc to your skin.  Regular chemical peeling for people who do not respond to the above methods. Chemical peeling with glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid on a monthly basis under the supervision of your dermatologist, has been proven beneficial in controlling the oiliness of the face.  Face Masks. Bi-weekly application of face masks containing glycolic acid along with the use of a toner have been seen to be beneficial in a small subset of population.

  2.  Personal Habits. Regular use of moisturizers and creams as prescribed by your dermatologist along with avoidance of squeezing or pressing of the pimples is an essentialpart of oily skin care regime.
