The fluid secreted inside the eye gets drained out through a drainage system present inside the eye called as Trabecular meshwork which is present at the base of the iris. If the drainage system gets clogged due to some reason, then the fluid gets accumulated and increases the intraocular pressure. Laser (high energy light) is used to open the meshwork and facilitate the drainage of fluid from the eye.
