Mission Statement - To provide to individuals from any background the wisdom of Vedanta and the practical means for spiritual growth and happiness, enabling them to become positive contributors to society.   4. Assembly • Regular activities: • Bhajans/Shlokas (monthly schedule to be published) • Bhagvad Gita Chanting • Birthday recognition for children • Announcements • Special events: • Presentation by Balavihar and language classes • Celebration of festivals

  5. The goal of Bala Vihar is to Teach children self-discipline, instill a sense of responsibility, and enable them to make the right choices. Provide a solid spiritual foundation in Hindu philosophy coupled with a deep appreciation for Indian heritage and culture. Bala Vihar Vidyadanam mahadanam (charity of knowledge is the highest charity)

  7. Children Responsibilities Bring • Balavihar bags and handbook • Bhagvad Gita chanting book • Notebook, pencil, eraser, sharpner • Book of Hymns – 4th grade and higher classes Follow • Class rules set by teacher • Instructions for home work Participate and Have Fun

  8. Study Group • Study groups provide an opportunity to discuss scriptural texts in a group setting. Back up moderators are need for each study group. Please volunteer by contacting the primary moderator

Other Mission Activities • Jyana Yagna (Acharya/CM Swami-ji visits) • In general 3-4 times/year. • First event: Swami Chidatmanandji visit Aug 28-31 • Fund raising dinner and program • Holi picnic • Diwali pooja and dinner • Community service • Food drive during ThanksGiving • Volunteer Service at community organizations • Bhagvad Geetha competition – Jan 26, 2013 • Annual Day program and lunch • Monthly article in Valley India Times

Swami Chidatmanandji’s Visit • Dates :August 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st • Time: 6:30pm to 8pm • Topic: Ascending Happiness • Location: • Granite Reef Senior Center • 1700 North Granite Reef Road • Scottsdale, AZ 85257 • (480) 312-1700 • Swamiji will also talk at Intel Chandler (C6-109) on Wednesday, August 29th on the topic ‘ Strategy for Success’ from 11:30am to 1pm Acharaya CM Hyderabad

  12. House Rules • Please arrive between 9:15-9:25 and be seated before assembly starts. Arriving late is disruptive to the entire assembly. • Cell phones - Switch off or set to silent mode. No texting in the assembly or classroom. Pl. step out if you need to attend to some urgent matter. • Do not socialize during the session • A parent/designated adult guardian must be present on the school premises at all times during the session for each child • CMP is not set up for safety and legal responsibilities of caring for your child without parent/adult guardian presence

Norms • Greeting - “Hari Om” with folded hands • Line footwear neatly outside the classroom • Attend regularly and arrive on time • Preferred dress code - Indian • Set aside family time to practice shlokas and go over what was discussed in Balavihar class • Communicate with your child’s teachers. Give us feedback • Volunteer your time and talent for mission activities
