  1. Joseph Died in Egypt Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died. (Exodus 1:6)

  2. Israelites Grew & Multiplied but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them. (Exodus 1:7)

  3. A New Pharaoh Reigned Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. (Exodus 1:8)

  4. The Israelites Were Oppressed (Exodus 1:8-22)

  5. I. God Heard Their Groaning 23During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. 24And God heard their groaning. (Exodus 2:23-24)
