  1. EUROPEAN IDENTITY

  2. HARMONY The state of being in agreement or concord. The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce a pleasing effect. The quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.

  3. WethinkthatthiswordrepresentsEuropebecause, Harmony is peace, since World War II ( which started in Europe) there’s peace. Harmony is also cooperation (all the European countries help each other). Without this cooperation, the EU would be like an orchestra playing out of tune, it would give a pleasing effect. Throughout the history of Europe there have been manyagreementsbetween countries. Simultaneously all decide new laws to be more stable .

  4. Definition from Wordreference.com: The state or quality of being one; singleness. We have chosen Unity because unity is very important for the progress of the European Union. If we are united, we will have a better economy. Every time that Europe isn’t in unity, and doesn’t cooperate, it is weak. Unity

  5. Latin and Greek • In the ancient times there were two main languages in Europe, Latin and Greek. • Latin: • spread to many Mediterranean regions with Roman conquest • The dialects spoken in these areas developed into the actual Romance languages: Portuguese, Galician, Spanish, Leonese ,Aragon, Catalan,Occitan, French, Romansh, Italian, Romanian and Dalmatian. • Greek : • The Greek comes from Greece, which belongs to the Greek branch of the Indo-European languages. It is the Indo-European language which have documented the oldest writings. The writing system used for most of its history and even today is the Greek alphabet. The Greek alphabet derived from Phoenician, and in turn gave rise to the Latin alphabet, Cyrillic, Coptic, among many others. Greek has no further origins.

  7. Government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.- A state having such a form of government: The members of the European Union are democracies.- A state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges.- Political or social equality; democratic spirit. The common people of a community as distinguished from any privileged class; the common people with respect to their political power. RELATION WITH EUROPE:The members of the European Union are all democracies. The democratic part of Europe is the election of the MEP (Member of European Parliament). DEMOCRACY

  8. DEFINITION • ''Culture'' is a term that is commonly used in three basic senses: • Excellence of taste in the fine arts and humanities, also known as high culture • An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for symbolic thought and social learning • The set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution, organization, or group REALTION WITH EUROPE There are so many countries as cultures, joined as the inheritance of the Greeks and the Romans, who created an independent continent and every nation has his own traditions, languages, beliefs and knowledge.

  9. ORGANIZATION: • We have chosen this word because we think that without organization Europe would be decontrolled. • In the European council the countries show us how to take decisions in common and for the common benefit and without organization it can’t be possible. • The best example for this is that now, we haven’t a great organization and without a leader we have fallen into crisis.

  10. KEY WORDS NOT FROM THE TEXT • Expansion: is an important word because in Europe were some historical personalities who built the empire of Europe and this important because this were the first pass to create Europe. For example the Charlemagne empire , the roman empire, and finally Napoleon empire. The European expansion haven’t finish because EU started with 6 countries and nowadays there are 27 . However there are more countries than want enter in the EU, for example: Macedonia and Turkey. So Europe is already expanding now.

  11. IMAGES

  12. Images: • We have chosen these two images because they come together. It represents the union of these two cultures (Greek and Roman) that gives us our present culture, religion, knowledge, language… • The second one also shows how large was the Roman empire and as far as it arrived.

  13. Images from other sources: We have chosen this image because we think that without the support of the countries and joint work, the contributions and improvements for our country would not be possible.

  14. The other image: • We have chosen this image because we think that have the same coin gives us the common economical center and lends us to have an meaningful market in which we can compare easily the standard of living, without lots of different coins.
