The Purchase Loop Report Report on the Effects of the Spring 2007 Changes and Reasoning for the Fall 2007 Changes July 2007
Overall Ridership Data • There were nearly 60,000 riders on the bus during the 2006-07 Academic Year • White Plains remains the more popular loop • Port Chester loop has proven necessary for some students, faculty, and staff • The changes made to address the Fall 2006 schedule shortcomings were largely successful, but further cuts to Port Chester would increase efficiency
Reasons for Schedule Changes for Fall 2007 (as of July 2007)
Port Chester Analysis • Port Chester continues to be under-utilized on weekdays • Port Chester has strong Saturday ridership with the exception of the 4:35 PM run • Port Chester Sunday service is not justified
Port Chester vs. White Plains • Port Chester never averages enough riders during the week to justify the service as demonstrated in slide 5 • Yet, there are riders who reside in Port Chester and rely on the bus • White Plains has significant ridership • Yet, when two White Plains runs are too close to one another the ridership on one is extremely low
White Plains Analysis • White Plains weekday late night service continues to remain low with the exception of Friday nights • There is low usage on the White Plains runs on Sundays after 10 PM
Survey Results on Timeliness • The leading complaint is now that the bus is not on schedule • This is due to the schedule being too tight • The solution is: • longer times between stops • Longer times at Metro North and/or on Campus to allow the bus time to traffic inconsistencies • This will result in less runs per day
