  1. Welcome to Granby Memorial Middle School VISION: Every student educated in the Granby Public schools will graduate on time, prepared for 21st Century Citizenship. MISSION STATEMENT: All students become powerful thinkers, effective collaborators, and compassionate contributors in preparation for success in a dynamic, interdependent world. ACHIEVEMENT GOAL: Systematically improve students’ ability to analyze and synthesize information, solve problems and articulate/defend a position.

Teenage Brain • The greatest changes to the parts of the brain that are responsible for impulse-control, judgment, decision-making, planning, organization and involved in other functions like emotion, occur in adolescence. This area of the brain (prefrontal cortex) does not reach full maturity until around age 25!!

Monitor Stress • SIGNS of STRESS: • Home: Loss of Interest in Family Activities • Disrespect of Family Rules • Withdrawal from responsibilities • Verbal or Physical Aggression • Change in Appetite • Disrespect of Curfews • Constant Excuses or Blaming others • Lying • Frequent Illness (headaches, stomach aches, etc.) • School: Sudden Drop in Grades • Truancy • Loss of Interest in class • Sleeping in class • Not doing Homework • Defiant to Authority • Change in Friends • Poor attitude towards Extra Curricular Activities
