SEXUAL SEDUCTION & CHRISTIAN DRESSING – PART 2 Memory Verse: Matthew 18:6 “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” BIBLE PASSAGE:Romans 14:9-19 INTRODUCTION: In the first part of this lesson, we learnt the primary purpose of dressing and modern abuse of dressing. We also saw examples of people in the Bible who had problems because of what they saw – Ecclesiastes 2:10, 2 Samuel 11:1-4.

  6. Outline 1: • BE NOT PARTAKERS OF OTHER MEN’S SINS. • The thought and desire for adultery in itself is a sin and whoever is responsible for it too is not guiltless before God. Jesus taught that woe is the man or woman who causes another person to sin. Why should we as Christians lure others into the sin we preach against because we want to be free to wear what we like? A lot of modern dressing styles are so sexually seductive that many Christians have become partakers of other men’s sins without knowing, by wearing them in public places. Topless, sleeveless, “spags”, body hugs and miniskirts are examples of dresses that could be sexually provocative – Matthew 18:6, 1 Corinthians 8:8-9, 1 Timothy 5:22, 1 Corinthians 10:33, Revelations 18:4, Romans 14:20, 2 Peter 1:4 SEXUAL SEDUCTION & CHRISTIAN DRESSING – PART 2

  7. Outline 2: • WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU MATTERS. • God is concerned about what people say about you because you are His representative on earth. It is not correct to do things as long as it pleases you without thinking of the consequences on others looking at you. Even Christ did not give room for the ungodly in His time to say evil about Him. He obeyed their laws even when it was not necessary – Matthew 17:24-27. We should not forget that the prince of this world, the accuser of the brethren is watching to see offences in us to use against us. We must set a godly limit to our liberty in dressing and teach our children to do same – Zeph. 1:8, Romans 14:15-16, 2 Corinthians 6:3, 1 Corinthians 8:12-13, 1 Timothy 2:9-10, 1 Peter 3:3, John 14:30, Acts 25:8-11, Acts 28:17-20, Daniel 6:4.   8. SEXUAL SEDUCTION & CHRISTIAN DRESSING – PART 2 • CONCLUSION • The Christian life is not about living to please self but living for Christ and to glory of God. It is our duty to do all things to bring others to light. We must not indulge in things which make our Gospel questionable. Is it proper for the unsaved world to judge us on minor issues like dressing? The world knows what is befitting for a true Christian to wear - 1 Corinthians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 11:32, 1 Corinthians 14:20, 1 Corinthians 10:23-24, Romans 14:19 .
