  2. ■2004-2005Focus on Your World “Celebrating Diversity” With the sponsorship of Canon Inc., the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is holding its fourth International Photographic Competition on the Environment called “Focus on Your World” and centred on the theme “Celebrating Diversity”. UNEP, whose mission is to spread awareness of environmental issues worldwide and focus international efforts on creating solutions, is using this competition to create a ‘visual journal’ depicting the critical situation our Earth now faces. This competition, which is the largest of its kind in the world, invites entries from people of all nationalities and ages and is open to both amateur and professional photographers. The awards ceremony will be held in Japan in March 2005. The winning photographs will then be featured in a traveling exhibition to increase awareness of the environment worldwide. The global environment is worsening and threatening the future of our Earth. You are invited to enter ‘Focus on Your World’ and photographically express your interest, hope, anger, sorrow, worry and other feelings and thoughts about pertinent issues. Send us your photographs. Show us your world. Awarded Photo 1999-2000
