  2. Location • The Pueblo Indians lived in the Southwest. • They lived in the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico. • Pueblo Indians are made of several different tribes including the Hopi.

  3. Housing • The Pueblo lived in apartment like houses made of adobe. • This was the best for them because it kept them cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

  4. Clothing and Tools • Pueblo women wore mantas which are traditional dresses. • Pueblo men wore kilts made of animal skins. • They also wear beaded necklaces and body paint. • To hunt, the Pueblo used bow and arrows or clubs and spears.

  5. Food • The Pueblo people were excellent farmers. They grew corn, squash and beans. • The men hunted deer and antelope while the women gathered nuts, berries, fruit and herbs.

  6. Artifacts • The Pueblo Indians are known for their beautiful pottery, weavings and jewelry. • They would often use these items to trade with other Native American tribes.

  7. Traditions and Religion • Every year Pueblo tribes gather to perform the Corn Dance. • The men and women wear special clothing. • The dance is a sacred ritual for the Pueblo and it is not usually performed for outsiders.
