Office of Minority Health • Mission - to improve the health and racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of policies and programs that address disparities and gaps • Serves as the focal point in the HHS for leadership, policy development and coordination, service demonstrations, coalition and partnership building and related efforts to address the health needs of racial and ethnic minorities

Indian Country Methamphetamine Initiative (ICMI) Specific Actions: • Develop a national information and outreach campaign • Develop a culturally specific methamphetamine abuse education kit • Document and evaluating promising practices in education on methamphetamine use • Create methamphetamine awareness multi-disciplinary education teams

Matrix Model • Is a manualized, 16-week, non-residential, psychosocial approach used for the treatment of drug dependence. • Designed to integrate several interventions into a comprehensive approach. Elements include: • Individual counseling • Cognitive behavioral therapy • Motivational interviewing • Family education groups • Urine testing • Participation in 12-step programs
